Introducing our next Director of Waldorf Teacher Education

On behalf of the Board of the Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto I am pleased to announce the appointment of Warren Lee Cohen as the new Director of Teacher Education, beginning July 1, 2009.

Born in the U.S., he obtained a B.A. Physics from Northwestern University, Illinois, and a Waldorf Teaching Certificate from Eugene, OR. He then took a class from grade one to eight at the Olympia Waldorf School in Washington State.

Warren currently lives in England where he served for five years as director of the Foundation Year course at Emerson College, a full time program he also lectured in. Along with this he founded and directed an Introduction to anthroposophy program for Camphill and other therapeutic workers.

Warren developed an accredited 3-year Bachelor of Arts degree course called Art and Human Consciousness at Hibernia College. He taught physics, matematics, woodworking, sculpture and projective geometry in the upper school of Acorn School in Gloucestershire No stranger to Ontario, Warren for six years co-led 10-day wilderness canoeing trips for teenagers in Algonquin Park that focused on self-discovery and artistic exploration in nature.

Warren is completing a Masters in Education. His final course is: “Leading and Managing for Effective Education” and his thesis will address this. Aspects of his work at the Rudolf Steiner Centre will contribute to the research. He is author of Raising the Soul: Practical Exercises for Personal Development, Rudolf Steiner Press, 2006. He also wrote Dragon Baked Bread, Temple Lodge, 2005 and Baking Bread with Children, Hawthorn Press, 2008.

We look forward to welcoming Warren, his wife Luciana and their two daughters, Marta (21 months) and Liliana (three months), into our community next April.
