Dear Friends of the Rudolf Steiner Centre, We are living in perilous times. The overall picture of Waldorf teacher development in North America has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento has closed its teacher education programs, Sunbridge College has closed its full-time teacher education program, and the Waldorf Institute of Southeastern Michigan (WISM) will be closing in two years.

The Steiner Centre is a full member of AWSNA and of their TEDC, Teacher Education Delegates Circle. This group of leaders in Waldorf teacher education from across North America meet throughout the year to try to lift the content and standards in their work. This autumn they met in New Hampshire where they were warmly hosted by the Monadnock Waldorf School. The first evening they met with representatives from regional Waldorf schools to learn about the needs for professional development in their schools. Amongst the many other items on their agenda were the implementation of shared standards in Waldorf teacher education and the creation of a Waldorf teacher education colloquium, Waldorf Teacher Training in the Age of the Consciousness Soul, January 4 to 6, 2018.

Anthroposophical humour may seem like an oxymoron, but Ronald Koetzsch, whose "side hustle" is working as editor of the Waldorf journal, "Renewal" will be visiting our campus this week to demonstrate that the aforementioned anthroposophical humour is alive and kicking. Come to Ronald's "Beeswax Conspiracy" and "Anthroposophy 101" lectures on Friday October 13th and Wednesday October 11th respectively, to see and hear for yourself. Both events are free -- co-sponsored by the RSCT and TWS.

On Friday Sept. 29th -- Michaelmas day -- the Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto community gathered for two hours in the afternoon to take a good hard look into the future of the Steiner Centre and its work. Free puppet festival this Saturday Sept. 23rd, 2017, from 10 am to 1 pm. Weather permitting, the festival will take place mostly in the forest playground at the Toronto Waldorf School. There will be multiple performance of four different puppet shows outdoors, culminating in a grand finale marionette show at 12:15 pm, which will likely be indoors. Suitable for children aged 3 and older.
