Glencolton Retreat

Experience Anthroposophy on a Biodynamic Farm

July 21 to 27, 2019

Note: this page describes the 2019 Young Adult Retreat. The RSCT and Glencolton Farms are planning to offer a similar retreat experience for young adults again in the summer of 2020. Stay tuned for complete details.

A 7-day retreat for young adults, 18-35, from around the world, interested in deepening their knowledge of anthroposophy and nature on a biodynamic farm

In the world we live in today, there is great need for deeper understandings of what lies behind the material. Many are suffering from the dissonance created by the disharmony of our modern civilization. This week will help us to penetrate the greater currents at work in the world today and to find a way to bring harmony back into our lives and the world around us.

Our theme for the week will be from “Harmony of the Spiritual World” by Rudolf Steiner.

During this week-long journey, we will develop our experience of the earth, the cosmos and ourselves. We will begin by grounding ourselves in the work and natural rhythms of the farm and the animals.

Studies in biodynamics and plant observation will deepen this work and help us to enter into the greater spiritual realm around us.

The evenings will be spent in community learning from elders, and searching the cosmos, singing and telling stories. In the afternoons, we will work on a sculptural project that will embody our working together and inspire others as it lives on in the community.

Your Hosts

We wish to welcome you to our farm, home to many animals and humans where together we work to transform and cultivate nature.

Michael Schmidt is an extraordinary biodynamic farmer, advocate for food rights, conductor and visionary. Raised in Germany with a Masters in Agriculture, he practices biodynamic farming at Glencolton Farms (photo above).

Elisa Vander Hout has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Guelph.  Growing up in Agriculture she found her way to biodynamics 19 years ago.  Together with Michael, Markus and Svenya, she manages Glencolton Farms.

Greg Scott is a sculptor, Waldorf teacher and adult educator. He currently works extensively with the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and is active in the wider anthroposophical community.
